Ready, Set, Learn! Our December 2016 Selectives Showcase
When you have 15 inventive Selectives classes happening simultaneously each week, students and teachers naturally want to take a peek inside other classrooms.
Thursday, they got that chance. The middle school transformed into an interactive museum where students and their parents got to watch, listen, taste, build, code, learn, and play with one another.
Here are some snapshots from our third semi-annual Selectives Showcase! To read a more complete description of each of these Selectives, click here.

3D PRINTING: A NEW DIMENSION!
“What is 3D printing? It is the process of taking an idea in your mind, putting it on paper, and using computer-aided design (CAD) to create a blueprint of the object you wish to build.”
“Using technology to create editorials, feature stories, photographs, videos, and other illustrations that will also be showcased on the Trojan Channel.”
ORIGAMI: CHANGING THE WORLD ONE FOLD AT A TIME
“Explore modular origami: the process of folding multiple numbers of paper units and assembling them into larger more complex origami figures.”
“Use investigative questions to examine food choices, explore the importance of different types of foods, and develop a scientific understanding of what exactly we are consuming on a daily basis.”
WORLD PEACE GAME
“Decide the name, symbol and flag of your country. How will you work with your friends and foes to establish peace in the world? Come and experience the world leadership of tomorrow, today.”
HOW TO WRITE A TED TALK
“Middle school students have incredible ideas – ideas worth spreading. In this course students practice how to speak and communicate so that others will listen.”
We take an in-depth look at domestic animals, wild animals, and the ethical issues involving animals – and then produce a documentary that shows our knowledge and understanding of the creatures that live among us.
“Are you puzzled? Join us as we tackle challenges and learning new strategies for solving them.”
